Welcome to the pickup campaign 'Here be Dragons'
Hic Svnt Dracones or "Here be Dragons" is designed as an occasional “pick-up” Dungeons and Dragons Campaign. The idea is to start with the basics, an adventure, and to fill in the world around each adventure. Each DM will run for one or two sessions, and will take what has happened before and add on to it with their own ideas and the actions of the players. Overtime, we can create a new and unique world.
General information about the campaign
Basic Player Ground Rules
Characters start at 2nd level.
30 Point Point Buy.
Max HPS for 1st and 2nd level.
Starting gold is double max 1st level gold (or max gold as for each character class).
No Magic items at start of game.
All sources must be official WOTC 3.5 rules.
Basic DM ground Rules
As for players, all sources should be official WOTC 3.5.
Each DM can run about 2 sessions in a row.
The campaign setting is generic, it is not part of Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Eberron or any other setting.
The overall world will only be developed as needed to support the current adventure. For example, until the name of the world is important, it will not be created.
Each DM is under no restriction to follow the course laid out in any previous adventure.
Each DM should make a minimal effort to post general notes and created facts after each turn running a game.
Whenever someone is DMing their character will be run as an NPC so that everyone maintains close to the same level.

Under Hold Infomation
The Under Hold Clans Council
This council is made up of the assorted clans that fled below ground and live in the same general region of the Under Hold. There are representatives from each race and major group. The council meets in the main council chambers, which is dominated by the speakers stand and also contains a door leading to the secret path to the surface. One of the members of the council is a Dwarf named Elder Rurrick.
Under Front
The passages that make up the dividing line between the Under Hold and the deeper regions of the earth. There are many battles and skirmishes here between the clans and creatures from far beneath the earth. Most of the powerful adventures and warriors from the clans are sent to protect the Under Front.
Equipment and Food
Both equipment and food are in short supply in the Under Hold. Most equipment will only be available half of the time. Food is made up of a variety of mushrooms and strange creatures that live beneath the earth.
Light
Many rooms and passages have been colonized by a luminescent fungus that allows limited viability by creatures without dark vision. Mushroom Torches are also commonly used.
The Shield Bearer
A god followed by dwarfs and others. He is favored by soldiers. It is said that there are 10,000 Litanies in his name. Some of them include the Litany of Hate, 10,000 Warriors, Retreat, and Encouragement. Known Litanies
Myths of the Under Hold
One myth concerns the reason the people fled below the ground. It is said that they sun was pulled through the sky by a mighty chariot. The driver of the chariot was a now nameless sun god. One day a mad being or god hijacked the chariot and killed the sun god. They then drove the chariot far away. Without the sun, the evil and dark creatures grew bold. The walls of the cities would not hold them back for they came in such numbers they topped the highest tower. That is why the clans fled below the ground. The Under Hold was the only pace that could be held against such evil.
